The exhibition aims to highlight the lively Italian folk tale and show how many of its themes, characters and symbols are still rooted in our imagination.

Kings, princes, ogres, castles, animals and many other fantastic creatures have, for their intrsinsic symbolic power, the ability to speak to children and support their dreams, their anxieties and their fears. Alfabeto delle fiabe at the Capitoline Museums - an exhibition with meetings and workshops, from 15 March to 1 April 2012 - aims to highlight the lively Italian folk tale and show how many of its themes, characters and symbols are still rooted in our imagination.
Alfabeto delle Fiabe ai Musei Capitolini, curated by Anna Maria Di Giovanni - Biblioteche di Rome, presents on large panels the pages and the fairytale journey of Alfabeto delle Fiabe, created by the poet Bruno Tognolini and by one of the best Italian illustrators, Antonella Abbatiello. Great silhouettes enhance the details of the illustrations. Accompanying the exhibition is a "Game of the Goose", played on a large carpet, and a rich selection of fairy tale books and fables provided by the Libraries of Rome. Antonella Abbatiello's precious original artworks are presented especially for the exhibition.
Alfabeto delle fiabe ai Musei Capitolini creates a poetic and visual journey into the magical world: page after page, a game of cross-references between letters, words and colours: a great Alphabet book made with the characters, places and symbols of the fairy tale world. There are magic rings, lost children, forgotten castles, and then dragons, ogres, fires, giants, witches, spells, rhymes and colours, and the beauty of the oldest stories in the world.
